The nonprofit entity Club Náutico 12 Millas celebrated a press conference yesterday to introduce their plans for the marina in Ibiza, criticising the current state of the facilities.

Javier Enríquez, founder and spokesperson for this newly created organisation, denounced the current management company for what they deem was a neglect of their duties and their inability renovate the facilities of this publicly owned marina to a point which, in their own words, "they have reached a shameful state of ruin" and are "dangerous for the users".

They also unveiled their 11 million euros project, which would take around a year and a half to complete. It involves the demolition of the current building and the construction of a new one with a swimming pool and restaurant, as well as a modern dry dock and sailing school. Their plans would also see the reduction of mooring spaces to 267 with a 15m maximum boat length.

Besides 12 Millas, Portcolom Náutic SL and the current holders of the license to manage the marina, Club Náutico de Ibiza, have submitted projects for this renovation. The technical committee still needs to study the three proposals before they reach a decision.
