Booze Ban on Flights From Glasgow

Budget airline Ryanair brings in new measures to counteract anti-social behaviour

We've all either been there or seen them...the 'lads on tour'...they have a reputation for being loud, obnoxious, a bit sunburned and permanently drunk. But they're just having a laugh, right??

But from this summer, 'what happens in Ibiza, stays in Ibiza' will quite literally be the case! Ryanair passengers travelling between Glasgow Prestwick and Ibiza will no longer be able to bring their own alcohol on board flights, in either direction...

The email to inform passengers was sent out at the beginning of April and was as follows,

“Customers will not be allowed to carry alcohol on board and all cabin baggage will be searched at boarding gates. Any alcohol purchased in airport shops or elsewhere must be packed in a suitable item of baggage, which will be tagged and placed in the aircraft hold free of charge.

“Customers attempting to conceal alcohol will be denied travel without refund or compensation,”

The ban follows several major disruptions over the last few years, one which caused a flight to be diverted to Paris in order to remove 14 passengers from the flight after they became intoxicated and uncontrollable. The airline is hoping that the new ban will improve customer safety and comfort.

"The comfort and safety of our customers and crew is our number one priority and we will not tolerate unruly behaviour at any time." - Ryanair spokesperson.
