Sunset hotspots in Ibiza
The best places to catch the sunset on the White Isle
Sunset is the most magical time of day wherever in the world you find yourself. Being an island, you are spoilt for choice when it comes to locating a place to watch the sun go down in Ibiza.
Surveys have revealed that Ibizan sunsets are some of the most Instagrammed in the world. Imagine soaking up the evening glow of the sunlight over a dreamy dinner and a cocktail with the best seats in the house to watch the sun go down. Or perhaps you’re a hopeless romantic and want to escape the crowds for a sunset cruise along the coastline.
Whatever you're looking for, here’s a guide on the best places to watch the sunset on the White Isle.
Benirras Beach
Our list starts with the most iconic place to watch the sun go down on the island. Benirràs Beach, a beautiful sandy cove on the north-west of the island surrounded by two rocky headlands, is the set of a famous hippie drum fest that gives a rhythmic soundtrack to the sun's descent. The drumming happens every day but is especially popular on Sundays. The silhouette of Cap Bernat, an islet that stands right at the end of the cove, gives Benirràs sunset pictures a distinctively magical feel. At Elements Beach Club you can sip on a cocktail while enjoying the view.
Sunset Ashram
Hailed as "Possibly the best sunset in Ibiza", the name of Sunset Ashram leaves little to the imagination. It is located in Cala Conta, a remote cove with wonderful views of the constellation of islets that rise up from the sea off the southwestern coast of Ibiza, including the well-known Conillera. Sunset Ashram is elevated over the beach on a rocky platform, a privileged spot from where to watch the sun go down to the sound of their selected DJs. You can even enjoy a bite here as they offer a light dinner menu full of fusion delights.
Cafe del Mar
Café del Mar is the birthplace of the sunset DJ sessions. Opened in 1980 in the party town of Sant Antoni on what's known as the 'Sunset Strip', this is where the Balearic Beats genre, a mix of electronic and chillout music, was created. Sit down, order a drink and a snack from their varied international menu, and take part in the original Ibiza sunset experience.
Amante Beach Club
At Amante Beach Club, it's not so much about watching the sun go down but witnessing the moon rise. Perched on a cliff overlooking a bay on the eastern coast of Ibiza, this idyllic beach club boasts some of the most breathtaking views on the island. This is the ideal setting for a romantic dinner at sunset. Share some of their Mediterranean dishes, wash them down with a signature cocktail and feast your eyes on the spectacular show of the White Isle's moon rising.
Kumharas Bar & Restaurant
At the other side of Sant Antoni Bay, opposite the Sunset Strip, sits Cala Bou. Boasting the same stunning views as San Antonio's most famous sunset hotspot, this small beach hosts the perfect venue to watch the sun disappear behind the sea without the hustle and bustle of the town centre: Kumharas Bar & Restaurant. This laid-back joint is a popular place to watch Ibiza's sunset light show which you can enjoy with a cocktail or even with a bite from their fusion international menu.
Sunset boat trips
If you fancy pushing the boat out (pun intended) to make your sunset a truly unforgettable experience, then why not book a sunset boat trip? There are a number of companies offering sunset cruises around the island. In true Ibiza style, they usually are party boats so that you can enjoy the sunset surrounded by like-minded clubbers while some of the best DJs in the world spin tunes... think the likes of Carl Cox and Fatboy Slim. Most of these party boats also include an entry to a night in one of the White Isle's famous clubs.
Hostal La Torre
Overlooking the Mediterranean from the privileged setting of a cliff top, Hostal La Torre is Ibiza's worst-kept secret. This charming guest house set near Sant Antoni boasts spectacular views of the sunset with the island of Conillera as a stunning backdrop. At their restaurant, they organise exclusive sunset sessions with their resident DJs and guests.
Ibizan calas
Ibiza's west and north coast boast many vantage points to witness the sunset, so you could always take your own picnic and enjoy the jaw-dropping views in private. Secluded coves like Punta Galera, Cala d'Hort or the cliffs of Na Xamena are great choices. If you want to create a romantic atmosphere, why not order a special meal from one of our handpicked caterers on the island?
Cafe Mambo
We close our list with one of the most popular sunset bars, another iconic joint on Sant Antoni's Sunset Strip. Cafe Mambo has been hosting some of the best DJs in the world for their legendary sunset sessions taking the concept to another level. Paul Oakenfold, Groove Armada or Pete Tong have taken up the turntables in recent years, as well as Eric Prydz, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Nic Faciulli and Bob sinclar at Cafe Mambo... unmissable experiences on the island.
