Local Fiestas:
February is a delightful month to soak up a host of traditional fiestas where unique experiences are created for the community through a vision of colour and vibrancy.
- Festival of Santa Eulalia - on 12 February Santa Eulalia celebrates the patron saint of this beautiful and dreamy seaside town. The event runs over multiple days and is marked by a carnival atmosphere filled with live music concerts, traditional folk dancing, feasting, a traditional mass and much more.
- San Antonio celebrations continue - in honour of the patron saint of this town, the celebrations that begin in January often continue into this month, offering a great variety of fun-filled events in Ibiza’s party capital.
- Carnival - takes place annually in February, running over multiple days and in towns across the island, the White Isle celebrates with colourful parades through the streets with locals dressed in elaborate costumes dancing to the sounds of live music. Some delicious sweet treats are only available at this time of year like the 'ensaimada de carnaval' or the 'coca dulce'.
Romantic dining on Valentines Day
For those who want to treat their loved ones to an extra special Valentine's treat this February, Ibiza is nothing short of a fairytale getaway. Many of the island’s wonderful restaurants and most exclusive hotels are open and offer unbeatable discounts during this month, and some will pull out all the stops with tasting menus or other special menus to provide a truly dreamy night. Find a terrace to sit under the starlit skies sipping a cocktail, then settle into a romantic restaurant dining area for a delicious and extravagant meal, and finally sit back and relax in a cosy lounge for a post-dinner drink with your loved one.
Nature and beauty in February
As Ibiza’s illustrious almond trees blossom this month covering the island’s landscapes in pretty shades of pink and white, we are reminded that spring is almost sprung. One of the most magical settings to watch the emblematic blooms is in the natural park of Es Amunts, located in the northern municipality of San Juan, encouraging island-dwellers to get out and about to explore the many delights that a new season brings. Don your walking shoes and take a tour of the area to witness the spectacular phenomenon, and at the same time discover the area of San Juan.
Cinemas and screenings in February
If you're in Ibiza on a rainy day in February, what else to do but sit back and enjoy a film. Ibiza is known for its love of the arts and if you're lucky their event IbizaCineFest will be taking place during your visit. Adding a dash of Hollywood glamour to the island, the festival showcases some of the best independent films and documentaries.
Hosted in Ibiza Town, the event runs usually in January or February. If the festival isn’t on during your stay, you can still visit the main cinema complex which is located in Ibiza Town and usually shows the latest releases in English with Spanish subtitles. The local cinema screen in San Antonio is also a quaint one to visit, regularly showing films in English.
Spas and relaxation in February
What better way to spend a cooler winter’s day than with an afternoon, a day or a week in a spa? Imagine recovering after a long night exploring Ibiza's famous nightlife. Or a beauty treatment before hitting one of the island's dance floors looking your best. Maybe even a week-long detox programme to forget the winter rain while enjoying the Mediterranean sun. Combine it with some yoga or wellness classes, to really embrace the self-care and relaxation experience. And what better way to finish off your spa experience than with a drink (health-focused or cocktail!) in one of Ibiza’s excellent bars and restaurants.
Some of our top picks for spas in Ibiza are:
- Aguas de Ibiza, within the Aguas de Ibiza Hotel in Santa Eulalia - one of the best spas on the island featuring a jet pool, water beds, Finnish sauna, steam room and lots of different types of showers, as well as luxury treatments.
- Rock Spa, within the Hard Rock Hotel in Playa d’en Bossa - features a large thermal area with jacuzzi, sauna, hammam and outdoor heated pool, or you can try one of their music-inspired beauty treatments and massages.
